Sometimes it really sucks when you have midweek days off, but it doesn’t have to! Melbourne has some banging midweek deals which are perfect for our hospo brothers and sisters who deserve to let loose after a long week of providing the goods to the masses.
For you it’s 5 minutes out of your day that you spend tapping away at your keyboard and letting hundreds (if not thousands) of people know how you had “the WORST meal EVER”, and how Sally didn’t bring you water after you asked “3 TIMES!!!!!” and letting the world know that you “will NEVER EVER be back!!!!!” - you click ‘post’ and carry on with your day, perhaps totally unaware of the emotional and financial impact that your review may have on the people that it’s aimed at.
HOUR OF POWER
We've created an 'hour of power' playlist to get you pumped to smash through that prep list! Although it can be used anytime - the hour of power playlist will most often be called upon at around 4pm - you've just had a crazy unexpected rush for lunch and you have no idea how you're gonna get everything done before the dinner rush hits.
Show initiative. If the chef say’s there’s nothing to do, it’s probably a test - don’t whip out your phone and start scrolling through your Facebook newsfeed to see what your homies are up to. If there’s “nothing” to do, take it as an opportunity to show initiative - prep something, clean something or grab a menu and study it!
Being a chef is one hell of a gig - but lets shine some light on some of the positive points that come with the job.
1) HOSPO PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO PARTY!
We, along with our FOH buddies work together everyday to ensure that our customers have a great time in our establishment. In other words, we are professionals at knowing how to have a good time. So when it's our turn to let loose.. Well, you know how that goes!
-Makes sharing your prep list with your team a breeze!
-Anybody in your team can edit and update the list at any time using their own device.
-You can add files to tasks (ie; recipes)
-Add comments to lists ie; “big week ahead team! prep double!”
-Have conversations with your team i.e; “anybody got any ideas for a salmon special for next week?”
1) BE FAST!
Your soufflés may be as light and fluffy as a cloud and your consommé as clear as your social schedule but none of this means a god damn thing if you cannot pump out food fast AF! If you want to get paid then the restaurant that you work at needs you to get food out fast so that the customer is happy and the tables in the restaurant can be turned over the maximum amount of times possible.
